A Weekend in Verona

First of all, we can’t believe it’s taken us this long to write this blog post on such an underrated city to visit! Ellis and I visited Verona back in October of last year by pure chance – we’d never planned on visiting, it hadn’t even crossed our minds.

Cheap Day Trips in the UK? Look at English Heritage Sites

Throughout the past couple of years, Ellis and I have seen some wonderful sights around the globe, varying from the Gullfoss waterfall in Iceland to the downright beautiful, gothic architecture in Budapest. We generally try and get away to a new city every month, dependant on prices, what we have coming up, prior engagements etc. But when we’re not spending our time in a foreign country exploring the Continue reading “Cheap Day Trips in the UK? Since then, we’ve literally done what we can to ensure we see as many sights and experience as many cultures as possible as a couple throughout Europe and beyond. My personal inspiration? Venice, the city of masks, canals and lovers

Venice,  the city of masks, canals and lovers.

E&J’s travel tips:

  • Fly to Treviso airport (cheaper).
  • Regular and cheap buses to Venice centre (as far as the bus can take you)
  • Water buses (Vaporetti) are the main transport method in Venice. Find out which stop is closest to your hotel and what lines run to it.
  • Canal Grande (the grand canal) is the main route though Venice. Majority of lines run up and down it regularly.

Mistakes to avoid when Travelling

This one is a bit of a faux pas, not many people want to highlight the flaws in their planning or showcase their errors they’ve made. But let’s face it, we’ve all been there!

A Long Weekend in Florence

City: Florence

Date: February 2016, 4 nights

Accommodation: Hotel Rapallo (3*. Review down below!)

E&J’s travel tips:

  • Fly to Pisa to save money on flights.  Coach it from Pisa airport to Florence for €5.99 p.p each way. Get tickets here
  • Check opening dates and times of all attractions! Many had days closed in the week
  • Take a train to Pisa for €8.40 p.p return to see The Leaning Tower of Pisa, but don’t expect to do much else there
  • Take a romantic stroll around Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore (the duomo) at night. Beautifully lit up.

The artwork we laid eyes on, the different flavours of gelato we tried, the endless walking along old streets and the views, cemented Tuscany Italy as a sure favourite of ours

Florence is a beautiful Tuscan city of great history, art, architecture, food and so much more.
